Vier Jahre nach Wir sind die Vielen ist Bernadette La Hengst endlich zurück mit ihrem neuen Album Visionäre Leere.

Auf dem Cover ihres siebten Solo-Albums steht sie einsam in einer Wüstenlandschaft und wässert mit einer Gießkanne ihre Gitarre – ein skurriles, irritierendes Bild. Füllt sie damit die Leere mit neuen musikalischen Pop-Visionen? Denn wo nichts ist, kann ja was werden.

Auch diesmal spürt sie all den Verwerfungen, Ungerechtigkeiten und Widersprüchlichkeiten, der Ratlosigkeit und der scheinbaren Hoffnungslosigkeit nach. Sie bleibt wieder nicht an der polierten, unhinterfragten Oberfläche, gräbt tief, fragt nach, lässt nicht locker.

Scheinbar humorvoll, aber doch auch voller Traurigkeit. Kann denn immer alles wieder werden? Wie lange dauerts, bis wieder was wird? Die abgebrannten Kohle-Nachfolgelandschaften der Lausitz (auf sorbisch: Łužyca) brauchen mindestens 30 Jahre, bevor wieder Leben entsteht.

Four years after "Wir sind die Vielen," Bernadette La Hengst is finally back with her new album "Visionäre Leere" (Visionary Emptiness).

On the cover of her seventh solo album, she stands alone in a desert landscape, watering her guitar with a watering can – a bizarre, perplexing image. Is she filling the emptiness with new musical pop visions? Because where there's nothing, something can emerge.

This time as well, she explores all the upheavals, injustices, contradictions, perplexity, and apparent hopelessness. Once again, she doesn't stay on the polished, unquestioned surface, digs deep, asks questions, and doesn't let go.

Seemingly humorous, yet also filled with sadness. Can everything always be restored? How long does it take until something becomes new again? The burnt-out post-coal landscapes of Lausitz (in Sorbian: Łužyca) need at least 30 years before life can emerge again.
